Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Inept is a band that’s going places. It’s as simple as that. The band came together in January 2003, began recording and playing shows, and have been non-stop since. With notable performances at festivals such as Warped Tour, Bamboozle, and Taste of Choas, these boys are making a name for themselves. Their new album So Much Between Us proves just that.

The first track, It’s All In Our Heads, starts the album off incredibly strong. Its upbeat, exciting and unbelievably catchy. The great thing about So Much Between Us is that each track is better than the next. The album flows brilliantly and seems to tell a story with each song leaving you wanting more. This album isn’t filled with tracks just to take up space. Each track has unbelievable hit potential.

The entire album is extremely well put together. The lyrics are simple, yet smart and mature. While almost every artist deals with themes of love and loss, Inept treats them in an adult fashion because they are slightly older, and as cliche as it might be, wiser. Title track, So Much Between Us deals with a sensitive topic, but not often discussed by many artists. Singer, Anthony Lira, sings about the pain he feels when leaving his daughter when he goes on tour. This song is just one example of many that allows the listener to really feel their experiences as they are expressed through their lyrics.

The lyrics are not the only amazing aspect of this album though. The music is phenomenal. While not many albums can be considered perfect, So Much Between Us comes pretty close. The guitar riffs, drums, and the perfect balance of singing and screaming gives Inept their signature sound. I’ve heard some buzz about this band prior to listening, both good and bad, but So Much Between Us , completely surpassed my expectations.

This is a great album. I was pleasantly suprised that I like it so much. There is so much generic crap out there, that it’s easy to write of a sort of pop-rock record. That’s not the case here. Inept does a great job of being genuine and putting out a great, straight forward rock album.

It blew away my expectations and is highly recommended.

My only comment is that inept is not that old haha,

The oldest member is 24 and the youngest is 20. They started right out of high school.
