In a time when most bands allow their genre to define them, Dallas boys Red Monroe are doing just the opposite - they are defining their own genre. With their third album Policia! Policia!, the sound of Red Monroe is courageously refusing to fit into a category. This collection is a rare mix of indie punk garage rock with a hint of southern charm. Lead singer, Eric Steele’s standout vocals could easily be kid brother to Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse) and contend with the half sung, half spoken stylings of John McCrea (Cake).
The music is addicting and a step in the right direction adding on to what they accomplished on their previous Self Titled Album, and from their more mellow debut album Meeting On A Train. It’s not catchy in a lyrical sense but Policia! Policia! is catchy in the way it brings emotion, excitement and heart back to rock music.
Stand Out Tracks:
“City Boy Motel”
“Fever Kids”
