Rediscover: Call Me When You Get This

The Indie Review

Band: Rediscover
Album: Call Me When You Get This EP
Rating:

I randomly stumbled across the band Rediscover while messing around on Purevolume. I had downloaded a few digital music samplers and they had a song on one of the samplers that made me stop what I was doing and immediately track these guys down via Myspace.
Rediscover is one of the few new bands that has a very modern sound, stays true with the trends that is going on today, but doesn’t try to sound like Fall Out Boy. With that said, Rediscover’s EP, Call Me When You Get This, does fall into the Powerpop genre (a term I had never heard of until Fall Out Boy took over the world). Powerpop could be defined as strong danceable melodies and hooks, with a dash of Rock and Roll attitude. But I digress on the Powerpop tangent, Rediscover is much more than a flavor of the week sound. Wes (the band’s founder & main songwriter) has his hands on many different flavors here with this record: Indie, Electronica, New Wave as well as the previously mentioned Powerpop. Because of that diversity, this is a very strong EP and one you need to take notice to.
Call Me When You Get This is the perfect introduction release for the guys in Rediscover. It gives you just enough nuggets of goodness to get you hooked. With 6 songs and clocking in at under 25 minutes it does leave you wanting more. Rediscover has found their stride quickly and have given us a must-hear EP. Look for their full-length to be released sometime this Fall or Winter. Until then, you can download the EP for FREE at their website, www.rediscovermusic.info. So now you don’t have any excuse. Check them out today.
You can hear an interview with Wes along with 2 songs off the EP on Episode 23 of “Sean’s Unsigned Rock Show.”
