Sounds Under Radio: Cinematica
The Indie Review
By Sean Duregger
July 27, 2007
Band: Sounds Under Radio
Album: Cinematica
Rating:

Sounds Under Radio have accomplished something pretty unique. They are the only independent/unsigned band on the Spiderman 3 soundtrack and, in my opinion, stole the show from both the soundtrack and the extremely disappointing movie.
The song featured on the soundtrack is Portrait of a Summer Thief and it’s not the only inspired track on Sounds Under Radio’s debut release Cinematica. It’s merely the icing on an album full of incredible songs. I’m actually shocked that this isn’t a Major Label release that I’m listening to. The songwriting is stellar, the production is crystal clear, and every one of these songs is memorable.
There are few mainstream bands that have become a soundtrack to my life (Coldplay was a part of my first date with my wife and it seems a Coldplay song comes along at every defining moment of my life). Sound Under Radio has put together an album that will stand the test of time and will be a part of my life for the next 10 years or so. These songs are so well-crafted that each song stands on it’s own two feet.
Sounds Under Radio have combined the best qualities of bands like Muse, Radiohead, even Queens of the Stone Age and have expanded the music into something totally unique. I’m going to bet that these guys aren’t unsigned for long. Hopefully they’re a band that will be around for a long time, because albums like this don’t come along often, even in the Major Label/Mainstream world.
Sounds Under Radio have created a masterpiece.
Stand out tracks:
“Portrait of a Summer Their”
“Wasteland”
“We Are All Bright Blue Stars”
