A Cadence of Sorts: Sink/Swim
The Indie Review

Band: A Cadence of Sorts
Album: Sink/Swim
Rating:

Sometimes someone gives you something for free & you feel guilty for taking that gift because it’s such a kick-ass gift. That’s the case with A Cadence of Sorts newest release Sink/Swim. Right now, you can get the entire album for free from their Purevolume page. A lot of times when you get free music it’s very disposable. Not the case with this release. I’m ready to slap $12 down on the table for this album. Yes, it’s that good.
Aggressive, emotional and thought provoking, Sink/Swim is an album you can sink your teeth into. Themes deal mainly with all aspects of love and grace, but the lyrics approach this very universal theme very tactfully. Nothing seems redundant. The same can be said with the music, there are many textures to the guitars, from distortion to many interesting effects and layers of sound. Also, the production is top-notch. This isn’t some band that just threw something together to give it away. Every aspect of the songwriting and production seems to be put together with a purpose.
Sink/Swim by A Cadence of Sorts is an extremely solid and satisfying release. I hope that giving this album away is the stepping stone to a very successful string of future releases.

Heart, love for music, and the passion in they’re songwriting and playing make this band who they are. I, as well, hope this is the stepping stone for great things to come.
