Okay, so it may take some time to get the whole name straight, but This is What Happens to Bad Robots is a band that is just as unique as its name is. While each of the five members; two guitar players ( Seth Abrams and Adam Manolovitz), bassist (Garrett Thompson), drummer (Arikk Mendoza) and singer (Rany Saab), have been involved with music for quite some time, it was only one ago that they came together to create what is now known as Bad Robots. Within the past year, Bad Robots have acquired an impressive fan base and have released their debut EP, Destined, which is much more than an OK album.
Every member in Bad Robots is extremely talented and equally valuable in contributing to their sound, but the most stand out performer without a doubt is drummer, Arikk Mendoza. The drumming in almost every track stands out and is extremely impressive leaving it almost impossible to listen to this EP and not want to tap your foot along.
Each track on Destined is something special, but the order of the tracks is a little confusing. The intro, Breathe threw me off and seemed to be a sleepy start to the EP, but soon kicked in with the first full length track, Make for the Seas which redeemed the slightly boring intro. Destined doesn’t really pick up much after Make for the Seas, but ends with These Buildings Never End; which was exciting, fun and had a lot of power. While its good to leave the listener wanting more, if this track was moved to the beginning or middle of the EP it could have changed the entire feel of the album. Nonetheless, each track contained moving lyrics and impressive instrumentals giving each song a little something special. While some songs may not be as good as others, Make For the Seas and These Buildings Never End have unbelievable potential to go on and become absolute smash hits.
Simply put, these guys have a real future and Destined is just the very beginning.
Stand Out Tracks:
“Make For The Seas”
“Goodnight”
“These Buildings Never End”
