Circa Survive partner with Invisible Children
Author: Sean

For their spring tour, Circa Survive is partnering with the non-profit organization Invisible Children to raise awareness about the war in Uganda - a region in East Africa that has suffered from civil unrest since the early 1980’s.
Circa Survive will join tourmates Thrice and Pelican in donating prizes to The Invisible Children Spring Music Raffle, which will include an autographed Masters of Maple Snare Drum and a hand-painted First Act guitar from Circa Survive. In addition, the band will be releasing an exclusive, unreleased song during the tour with profits going to Invisible Children.
“We don’t want to just raise money with this,” said Brendan Ekstrom from Circa Survive. “We want to raise awareness so people really know where this money is going. It means a lot to us to be able to use our art to be involved with something so important.”
For more on Invisible Children, visit their official website.
The full-U.S. tour featuring Thrice, Circa Survive, and Pelican begins April 16th and ends May 30th. For tickets and information, visit Circa Survive’s official website.

Lujo Records New Releases

11 Mar 2008 Lujo Records doesn’t stop. Here is info on some notable new releases as well as current releases you should check out. (Also, note these artists’ tour schedules & catch them live!)
POMEGRANATES Everything Is Alive - Available Now!

Pomegranates’ Everything Is Alive is available now exclusively from Lujorecords.com! Go get it, go get it! It’s really amazing!! Here is some info:
After self-releasing critically acclaimed EP Two Eyes, the boys put together a record..and a highly anticipated record at that. Everything Is Alive is the band’s debut full length and is pure pop ecstasy from start to finish. Drawing from influences like The Beach Boys and The Kinks, Everything Is Alive is as timeless as it is Modern. Melodic guitar lines, gusto vocals, unorthodox song structures.. and comparisons to early Modest Mouse. This is what KEXP’s blog had to say about the boys: “The comparisons to early Modest Mouse are pretty spot-on so long as that’s not the last word. Pomegranates’ sonic template is much wider, their pop, poppier.”
And be sure to check out their brand new video for “Whom/Who”:
AND the sample track for “Thunder Meadow” here!
NEW ALBUMS – In Stores! Head on down to your fave mom and pop record shop to pick up your very own copies of the new records from THE OUT_CIRCUIT, DEATH HOUSE CHAPLAIN, and LOOK MEXICO! OH! And be positively sure to check out their new animated video for “You Come Into My House While I Sleep” off their full length This Is Animal Music illustrated by our very own Joshua Mikel of Look Mexico! It will blow your mind, promise!
THE OUT_CIRCUIT Pierce the Empire With a Sound

The Out_Circuit makes music in reference to a state of mind. On their debut record, Burn Your Scripts, Boys, that state of mind was mellow, moody and atmospheric. For the band’s sophomore effort, Pierce the Empire With A Sound, Nathan Burke holds to the bracing-yet-beautiful instrumental melodies that Burn Your Scripts was noted for, but builds on those, positioning them opposite a heavier sound actualized by occasionally screamy vocals and a driving rhythm section. Collaborations with Dustin Kensrue (Thrice), Sean Ingram (Coalesce), Rachel Burke (Beauty Pill), as well as members of Roadside Monument, The Epochs, Haram, and more are only appropriate here. Pierce the Empire With A Sound was mixed by Teppei from Thrice and offers you that rare space where darkness and beauty collide.
Click here to hear “Across the Light” from the album.
DEATH HOUSE CHAPLAIN Of Asthma

Like a good slap in the face comes the sophomore effort and Lujo debut record from Los Angeles trio, DEATH HOUSE CHAPLAIN. Front man Matt Holl pounds out the guitar licks and unrefined vocals in a way that’ll make you wonder what that crap on the radio is you’ve been listening to. Available exclusively for pre-order before it’s March release date, Of Asthma, is an absolute must for fans of US Maple, The Cure and -dare I say- The White Stripes? Oh yes I do! I dare!

TOUR DATES

FEB 21 2008 – Equal Vision Record’s DEAR AND THE HEADLIGHTS have been hand picked as the sole opener of the highly anticipated Paramore/Jimmy Eat World co-headlining spring tour. The tour kicks off April 1st in San Antonio, TX and wraps up May 2nd in Atlantic City, NJ. The tour also makes a stop at Bamboozle Left in Irvine, CA on April 5th.
The Arizona natives were at home writing and recording the follow up to 2007’s SMALL STEPS HEAVY HOOVES when they received the offer to join the tour. They couldn’t refuse the chance to tour with one of the most influential bands of the last decade, and a talented young band who in just a few years have broken into superstardom.
In January, Alternative Press listed the forthcoming DEAR AND THE HEADLIGHTS release one of the Most Anticipated Albums in 2008. While the April tour does put a slight delay on the writing, the record is still set for a Fall/Winter 2008 release.
Before the tour begins, DEAR AND THE HEADLIGHTS will be playing one last local show on February 29th in Tempe, AZ with Equal Vision Record’s latest signee’s Alive In Wild Paint. Arizona locals should buy tickets for this show quickly – It may be your last opportunity to see DEAR AND THE HEADLIGHTS for a long time to come.

Butch Walker Lets You Choose To Pay For His Album
Author: Sean

With his new live album Leavin’ the Game on Luckie Street, Butch Walker and his management team are letting you decide if you want to pay for it or not. It is offered as a free download, or you can purchase is for a LOW price of $5.99. This is a 2 disc set (23 songs) and the live recording is impeccable.
Go to www.therecordindustryisfucked.com and please drop the cash for the album. It’s great to see artists willing to take a chance and try new business models. This goes to show all you up and coming bands . . . do you really need a record label to get your music out there? Instead of spinning your wheels trying to get signed, just get your music out there! It’s a great time for the DIY band. Get your music to the masses, bust your ass with your live show, tour like crazy. The rest will fall into place.
Basically, the record business is fucked, but not for bands. Only for themselves. It’s the most exciting, positive time for music, as rockandroll and indie have gone completely back underground.
It’s exciting, and to see artists be able to release albums whenever they want, for whatever they want, and not have to fear sending in their cover art, only to have the art dep airbrush off the singers mustache (in fear of not selling to a certain demographic of fucking statistic) is wonderful.
Essentially, everything they have or haven’t done in the past, I will purposefully do the opposite . . . and probably make my first paycheck for once.
Viva la freedom from cubicle music! [Butch Walker, www.butchwalker.com]

Pierce the Veil News
Author: Sean

Pierce the Veil is one of my favorite Equal Vision Artists. They’ve been busy & a lot of great things have been happening to them. Check it all out below!
JAN 21 2008 – PIERCE THE VEIL
wrapped up a year of constant touring in 2007 and show no signs of slowing down as they kick off 2008 with tour plans that extend through the end of the summer. With a workload like this, it’s easy to see why Alternative Press has recently named PIERCE THE VEIL one of the 100 Bands To Know In ‘08.
Before taking to the road, the band will shoot a video for their single – as chosen by their fans in an online poll – “YEAH BOY AND DOLL FACE”, in Los Angeles with director Nate Weaver (Static-X “Dirthouse”, Jealous Sound “The Fold Out”, Russell Simmons “I’m Not A Model”).
On the road, the band find themselves in the coveted support slot for Emery’s national headlining tour which kicks off January 29th in Nashville, TN and wraps up March 22nd in Greenville, SC. As Cities Burn and Mayday Parade will also be supporting the tour.
Shortly after, PIERCE THE VEIL will be appearing at Bamboozle Left on April 6th in Irvine, CA – not too far from the band’s hometown of San Diego, CA. Other confirmed performers include My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects, and Paramore.
The band will be packing up the RV again – with lots of sunscreen – as they take to the Hurley Stage on this summer’s entire Vans Warped Tour.
PIERCE THE VEIL will be continuing to support their 2007 debut, A FLAIR FOR THE DRAMATIC, recorded with producer Casey Bates (Chiodos, Gatsby’s American Dream) and written/recorded entirely by brothers VIC FUENTES (vocals, guitar) and MIKE FUENTES (drums). The album has received an abundance of praise since its release; says Outburn, “We’ve been there, done that with the screamo thing… Yet, Pierce The Veil manages to take their influences and fondness for screamo’s vocal styling and hardcore’s hurried rhythms and tones it down with more melodic harmonies.” Alternative Press advises the band, in regards to the song title “I’D RATHER DIE THAN BE FAMOUS”: “Be careful what you wish for… especially if you keep writing songs this good.”
